Want to try a lower calorie green smoothie that tastes good and boosts your metabolism? I searched the web for the best metabolism boosting smoothies, and this one is one of my favorites. Although I agree with most of the chosen ingredients in this video, I have made a few alterations based on my personal nutritional beliefs.

I am substituting baby spinach for the kale in this recipe. I find that spinach has a sweeter taste than kale. The natural sweetness of the baby spinach livens up the entire shake! I’m also substituting 1 scoop of Perfect Plant Protein for the yogurt to keep this smoothie plant based. To keep this smoothie low carb, I am choosing to leave out the honey that I usually add to my shakes. If this shake is too bitter for you, feel free to add the natural sweetener of your choice.

Our Version of the Metabolic Supercharge Smoothie:

  • 1 scoop of Perfect Plant Protein
  • 1-2 cups baby spinach
  • ½ cup of almond milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • ¼ tbsp. cayenne pepper
  • Ice, as needed

Directions:

Add all ingredients to high speed blender and blend until thick and creamy. Enjoy immediately! Feel free to adjust the ingredients to your preferences.

This smoothie works to boost your metabolism while keeping you full. Another metabolism boosting ingredient you could add is coconut oil. I would add Perfect Coconut Oil because it has a light tropical taste and it is USDA certified organic.

Just a warning- this video mentions that you could substitute soy milk for almond milk and I simply cannot agree with that statement. Soy is known to cause numerous health problems, especially in large non-fermented quantities. Even worse- most of the soy found in soy milk is genetically modified so stay away from soy! Almond milk and coconut milk are the best options for this shake.
