Usually, I feature protein shakes that are designed for post-workout recovery but who says you can’t have a protein shake pre-workout!? This protein shake is the perfect fuel for your workout; clean, delicious ingredients with a bit of a caffeinated kick! Coffee gives the perfect boost of energy to power you through your workout.

As always, I never find a PERFECT protein shake recipe on the internet so I had to a do a bit of tweaking. Here are the ingredients that I changed:

1. Instead of stevia, I used a tbsp. of raw honey. Raw honey is packed with nutrients and gives you an instant burst of energy.

2. Instead of low fat yogurt, I used full fat organic yogurt. Contrary to popular belief, low fat dairy products are actually highly processed and really bad for you.

3. Instead of cocoa powder, I used a tbsp. of raw cacao. Unlike highly processed cocoa powder, raw cacao is packed with important minerals and antioxidants.

4. Finally, I used Perfect Plant Protein for my shake.

5. Remember- it is important to use high quality or organic ingredients whenever possible. Low quality, inorganic ingredients are likely to cause more harm than good.

Pre-Workout Frozen Coffee Protein Shake

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp. raw honey
  • 2 tbsp. Greek yogurt
  • 1 scoop Perfect Plant Protein
  • 1 tbsp. raw cacao
  • 1-2 tbsp. instant coffee
  • ice, as needed

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in high speed blender and blend until fully mixed. Like all protein shakes, you can alter this shake to suit your tastes and needs.
