Acai smoothie

Whoever said that things that are healthy have to taste bad, has clearly never had dark chocolate.  Dark Chocolate is one of those incredible foods that taste incredible and is packed with antioxidants and nutrients.  Don’t go for the the milk chocolate, it has little nutritional value, but if you go with Dark Chocolate, you are getting one of the best tasting superfoods on the planet.

Dark Chocolate is great, but sometimes you need a little something to cut the bitterness of the chocolate…this is where the mighty Acai Berry comes in.  Acai Berry is another superfood that is bursting with antioxidants and phytonutrients.  Mix Acai Berry and Dark Chocolate together and you have a TASTE and NUTRIENT force to be reckoned with.

But What About the Protein, We Need Protein!

As this is ProteinShakesRecipes.Net – we are big into the whole protein thing.  A shake that combines Acai Berry and Dark Chocolate is great, but you don’t get a whole lot of protein in that shake.  We found that by adding some Perfect Plant Protein (a 100% Organic Vegetarian Protein Powder) we were able to infuse this shake with protein and STILL keep the great taste.

It took a good amount of tinkering in the kitchen – a few bananas here, a dash of honey there, some Cacao for a more nutritional punch…and eventually we had it – The Dark Chocolate Acai Protein Shake.  This protein shake recipe is easy to make and makes a great super food smoothie that is an excellent breakfast or post-workout meal.



Blend on high until rich, creamy, and fully blended. The shake will be dark chocolate colored with a deep purple tint. You can almost see the antioxidants in this delicious smoothie!  Feel free to alter slightly to get just the right taste.  By adding more of less honey, you can really play with the sweetness of this protein shake.
